In a recent development, speculation around the finisher Rinku Singh's inclusion has intensified, as he finds himself in a tight spot due to his form in IPL 2025 and stiff competition among finishers in the squad.

Rinku Singh’s Asia Cup Spot in Doubt Despite Past Heroics

Rinku Singh first rose to fame when he smashed five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal in an IPL match against the Gujarat Titans, chasing 30 of the last over, guiding the Kolkata Knight Riders to a famous win. In the following season, he played a key role as a finisher, helping KKR secure their 3rd IPL title in 2024.. But things haven’t gone his way since. He missed out on the previous T20 World Cup squad and was only named as a standby.

With his recent performances under scrutiny, Rinku’s spot for the 2025 Asia Cup is far from certain. He’ll need to step up and deliver if he wants to cut the big tournament.. Given his past form for India, if he does find a place in the Continental Cup squad, there’s a chance we could see him feature through to the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Selectors Eye Jitesh Sharma and Shivam Dube as Asia Cup Alternatives

If Rinku misses out, the selectors are seemingly leaning towards Jitesh Sharma as a long-term wicketkeeper/finisher option. His recent IPL heroics and wicketkeeping skills strengthen his case. Alongside him, Dhruv Jurel is also in the mix as a back-up to Sanju Samson, who is expected to be the first-choice wicketkeeper, as per reports.

If not Jitesh, selectors have reportedly considered Shivam Dube part of the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad, who played a crucial knock in the final. His versatility adds value, especially with his ability to chip in with medium pace when needed.
